Settling in the Middle: Tuyo (salted, dried herring) pasta

Being in the middle is often not a good thing. You’re neither here nor there, or neither black nor white. You are just lukewarm, neither cold nor hot. It can mean cowardice for some, lacking the balls to choose a side. It is the gray area, obviously a drab color, which best describes the feeling of being in the middle.

This is where I am at the moment: right smack in the middle.

Upcycled! Koka Oriental Style Instant Noodles

My life will be pretty much on the go from this day forth. It’s been busy as a meantime housewife in Dubai (house chores, writing, projects, quality time with the husband and all), but it will be busier. Because of some happy developments :-) I’d love to shout it out to the world, but I’d prefer to keep it hush-hush. Just say a “I’m so happy for you!” and I will accept it with grateful arms. Hehehe!

Project 30: A Tale of a Humble Can of Sardines

The more you hate, the more you love?

I hated sardines. Ok let me say that again, I abhorred sardines. Sardines were one of my hatest breakfast viands ever in the history of mankind. And unfortunately, it was one of the favorite Filipino breakfast staples of all time. It was filling: most certainly when eaten with a heaping mountain of steamed white rice. It almost dirt cheap because it costs around USD 0.25 a can in Manila. Because it is that dirt cheap, it used to be the poor man’s meal. I say used to be because instant noodles are cheaper now. Half the price of a can of sardines! But hey, I digress. Let me get back to those horrid sardines…
