Weekends are made of these…

I now have regained the a full appreciation of the line: “Where has the weekend gone?” I can’t believe those two days are so over. But, but, but I am grinning from ear to ear like a Cheshire Cat because I think I just had one of the most productive and enjoyable weekends ever. To be honest, it wasn’t anything spectacular like a weekend out of the country or even just a weekend out of town (a weekend in Sharjah? *Snicker*).

It was simply a weekend filled with the simple joys that make my life complete

Mangoes and sweet summers

Would mango chutney be enough to satisfy my mango cravings?

The intense berating of the rays of the sun on my skin signaled the arrival of the summer, a season I love to hate. I hate it with a passion because the burning rays along with the sticky humid sweat isn’t the best feeling when you want to look and smell your best at a client meeting after un-air conditioned commute. But I love the summer because, along with the rising temperatures, it brings the pile up sunshine yellow fruit of joy on the roadside fruit stands.

Unfortunately, the rise of the desert heat does not signal mango season.

Everybody needs a table full of comfort

When people ask me how I am here, I do say “I’m okay.” or “I’m fine.” or sometimes “I’m really happy here.” I really am okay. I really am fine. I really am happy here. But there are times that I do feel lonely, every once in a while. Good thing that food is there to ease me out of the loneliness I feel.

My Summer Street Delights

Living in the desert, where temperatures rise up to 45 degrees celsius, made me miss the rain. Rainy weather is makes me extra lazy, more prone to hiding under the covers…”bed weather” as we would fondly call it. The perfect happy weather if you have somebody, a warm bodied special someone, to cuddle with. But unfortunately, with The Husband far, far away in the land of eternal sunshine and sand, the rains are making me more depressed than happy. But I’d like to make the most out of my month long stay here in Manila, so instead of moping around, I try to think of happy sunshine thoughts like this…
