A Dream

Just some of my books

I am passionate about books, the written word and even more passionate about so food, so why not whisk them into submission until it peaks into a crazy, wild dream. I, Didi, former-media-planning-angel-but-now-meantime-housewife living in the eternal summer paradise of Dubai, UAE, could be a food writer someday, one day. Perhaps a respected restaurant critic, food writer extraordinaire like Ruth Reichl and Frank Bruni. Or a humble blogger turned published writer like Molly Wizenberg. Or maybe a well-travelled food explorer like Anthony Bourdain.

Honestly, I still don’t know where or how pursuing this crazy dream will take me. Hence, this blog is also a lot about another big D of mine.

I recently left my life in the Philippines: my family, my friends, and my corporate career to join my husband here in Dubai, where I have no family, hardly any friends and no corporate career (at least for now). So Destiny blessed me this unique opportunity to start with an almost blank slate in this new chapter of my life.

To discover more about myself as Didi: the newly wed, the meantime housewife, the inexperienced cook, the dreaming writer hopeful, the eternally hungry foodie-on-a-diet, the resurgent career woman…

To discover more about this strange country I live in: the people – our start up family, my new found friends and random strangers I bump into, the culture and way of life, and, of course, more importantly, the food

I have loads of time in my hands (at least for now), so I do know that the opportunities for discovery are endless! Join me in my adventures (but mostly misadventures) as I live, love and, sometimes, loathe this D life of mine. Don’t forget to grab a snack while you’re at it
