Me in the Big D! Let’s go Mavs!

Kamusta ka? Keefik? How y’all doin’?

My name is Didi Paterno-Magpali: writer, blogger and OFW – Overseas Filipino’s Wife. Yes, I hail from Pearl of the Orient, the tiny archipelago that could, home of famous boxer Manny Pacquiao, infamous historic shoe fiend Imelda Marcos, and pristine white sand tropical beaches, and, now, favorite pathway of bad-ass super typhoons: the Philippines!

But I don’t live there anymore.

I love my home country, but I love this man more…so I followed. (Photo by Nicolai Melicor www.nicolaimelicor.com)

I left my home country in 2011 to join my ex-boyfriend of 9 years, ex-long distance lover and now husband in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (in the Middle East, in case you didn’t know) to start a life together. Oh, and I don’t live in Dubai anymore.

Are you seeing a pattern here?

Goodbye sanddunes! Twas good while it lasted

After two years of eating through the city and swimming through the challenges of being working Filipino expats in the Middle East, we packed our bags and left for the US of A, where The Husband and I have found ourselves a meanwhile wee home in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in the great state of Texas.

Posing with a historic Texas meat market…just because!

Our expat life has been overall delicious, scrumdiddlyumptious, but, seriously, sometimes not so great too. And this blog is all about sharing those stories with you.

Hope you’d stick around for the ride.

Hi there stranger!

I need to know that you're not a robot :)

Hi Diana! We actually have the same name :) Thanks for dropping by! Glad to know that there are people who read my blog. Hahaha! Well, we don’t want to leave home and I think Dubai has been home for you and your family :)

Didi – slowly reading up each blog from the FIA clan! I am really enjoying your blog. We do cook a lot of Filipino food at home – I love Bikol express, mutton calderatta, Torta, Macapuno fruit salad and many many more – these are pretty much regulars in our kitchen as well my own Bengali food!

WOW! How did you learn? I love spicy Bicol express too, but have not gotten the chance to cook it yet. The Husband is not a fan of too much heat. But I think he can wing it.

      Thanks for dropping by :)
