Have you watched “Breaking Bad”? Like finished the entire series or maybe rewatched it a gazillion times?
Then you probably will recognize THIS.
So the place is real? Sure it is. But in real life, Los Pollos Hermanos is not the real name of the place. Twisters (a.k.a Los Pollos Hermanos) is a real food establishment where AMC chose to shoot “Breaking Bad”.
The Husband and I weren’t expecting anything special. Because Twisters wasn’t. I even think that people only go to the restaurant just because it was an important “Breaking Bad” location. While we were there, there were a couple of other fans who took pictures, sat in the booth where Walter White sat and ordered drinks. That’s it.
But we were hungry, so we did order food and ate.
Unlike in “Breaking Bad”‘s Los Pollos Hermanos, where the offerings of the fictional restaurant clearly revolve around fried chicken, Twisters is just confusing. Their menu actually reminds me of the cafeterias in Dubai where they offer just about anything – from shakes to burgers to biryani to sinigang – to satisfy the wide spectrum of diners.
But, as we were in New Mexico, The Husband and I ordered uh, Mexican fare: a taco salad, huevos rancheros with carne adovada topped with Christmas chili (i.e. red and green chili) and green chili stew.
Sadly, Twisters’ food is the more MEH than ever. Well, I suppose that you don’t really visit the place for the food anyway. Everyone visits just because “Breaking Bad” was shot there. I must say though that food is definitely much better than any other crap American food chain. It’s all in the sauce baby!
And according to latest news, this Twisters branch may actually be transformed into Los Pollos Hermanos. Hmmmmm…another visit when that happens?
