How far would you go out for food?
Well, in terms of drive time, my record is a 6-hour round trip just to get my wonderful sisig fix at Mila’s Tokwa’t Baboy. But considering how drive times in the Philippines are muddled by narrow highways, potholed roads, and unpredictable bumper-to-bumper traffic jams, I turned to my good friend, Google maps, and learnt that we do travel an estimated 122 miles (196 km) for the irresistible sisig’s sake. And that is quite a lot of time and mileage for an hour’s worth (or even less) of eating.
Last weekend, The Husband and I drove an 8-hour round trip for a staggering 522 miles (840 km) in the name of Salt Lick BBQ, WHOA! I know…we’re crazy. So I guess that topples and knocks out my old 6-hour, 122 mile record? For sure!
After seeing The Husband’s eyes light up at the sight of fat dribbling down strips of beef and hearing his roar “Glorious!!!!” after a big bite of his favorite BBQ brisket, the trip was definitely worth it. Thank you to the guardians of the smoke and fire at Salt Lick BBQ!
